On this popular day trip of scenic contrasts we travel by 4x4 on an off-beat Atlas circuit including three river valleys. Our drive from Marrakech first takes us into the Ourika Valley then across the High Atlas following a dramatic route to the Mizzane Valley and Asni. Views of North Africa’s highest peak, Jebel Toubkal (4,167m) are unsurpassed on a clear day.

We continue to the Ouirgane region and venture into the little-visited Azzaden Valley to Kasbah Africa, a nature retreat located on the valleyside high above the Azzaden river. After a traditional Moroccan lunch we have time to explore the nearby Berber village of Torort, swim, relax and enjoy unrivalled views of the surrounding peaks.

Next we drive up to the pastures of the Kik Plateau and pause to view a panorama of the Lalla Takerkoust Reservoir and beyond to the Agafay Desert. We descend to the lake and continue to the barren stone desert of Agafay, also known as the 'Marrakech desert'. Our final stop is at Nkhila Tented Camp for mint tea and the chance to ride a camel.
